Jennifer Hornsby: Knowledge How vs. Means-End Beliefs (Royal Institute of Philosophy)

Part of the Royal Institute of Philosophy's London Lecture series 2015: The Philosophy of Action. Many claim that ‘To know how to do something is to know a truth about the world’. And many claim that human actions are caused by (inter alia) ‘means-end beliefs’. In this lecture Jennifer Hornsby argues that both claims are false, and that examining each of the claims helps in seeing what is wrong with the other.
